So indulge a little. Throw on your PJ’s, grab some chocolate, and binge watch Game of Thrones (or Reign, or Fixer Upper… all good options) while you snuggle up with your credit card and laptop and go “add to cart” happy.
Is it just me, or do you get a high when you see something you like and click “add to cart.” It should really say, “add to your heart the piece that has been missing your whole life”. Also, you don’t have to feel guilty about spending, because everything is on sale, and when it’s on sale, it’s practically free, right?? 💁
Money Saving Tips for TPT Sales
- Make the most of your TPT Credits. Did you know with each purchase you make, you can earn points towards free products on TPT? For each product you provide feedback for, you earn 1 TPT credit for each dollar it was worth. You get the most bang for your buck when you use your TPT Credits during a sale. With everything discounted, those points will stretch out a little further. Stretch credits, stretch! To get your magic credits:
- After you make a purchase, hover over “My TPT” and click “My Purchases”.
- Click “Provide Feedback” by the green little thumb. 👍
- After you provide feedback, you can check your TPT Credit Balance by hovering over “My TPT” and clicking “TPT Credit Balance.”
- Don’t forget to use the TPT code at checkout. Every sale, most TPT Authors put their store up for 15-20% off, PLUS Teachers Pay Teachers throws on an additional bonus. The individual TPT Authors discount is automatically applied, but the Teachers Pay Teachers discount is only applied if you enter the code at checkout. The code is usually advertised at the top of the website in a prominent place so you won’t miss it.
- Check your timezone for the sale times. TPT sales operate on Eastern Time (NY is their headquarters), so the sale starts at midnight EST, and closes at midnight EST. I used to live in the Mountain Time Zone, so all of the sales would start at 10pm the night before. Now I live in the Central Time Zone, so the new TPT day starts at 11pm. The trick is remembering this when you have all your goodies in your shopping cart, you finally have some time to yourself at 10 pm (because really, when else to we get a moment to ourselves?!), and the sale is over… 💔 I will not have that tragedy happen to you! Check your time zones and set your alarms to go off at least an hour before midnight EST on the last day of the sale, so you don’t spend the night in tears asking yourself, “Why… why???”
- Enter giveaways! This one is a hit or miss tip, but it’s always worth a shot. TPT gives away gift cards to TPT Authors to then giveaway to their followers around sale times. So it is a great time to go searching for giveaways to enter. They will usually post the giveaways on their blogs or social media accounts (facebook, instagram, etc.), so be sure to follow your favorite sellers on social media too.
- Buy bundles. Before you click “purchase” on that cute new product you found, check out the TPT Author’s store to see if it is included in a bundle with even more cuteness you’d buy anyways. You often get a very nice discount buying in bundles, which maximizes your savings during sales even more!
- Buy licenses to share. Pair up with teachers on your team to buy resources you all want. You pay the original price for the first license, then you get a 10% discount on each additional license you buy to share with friends. Add the total cost together, then split it with your teacher BFF’s, and everyone is happy! Instead of clicking “Add one to cart”, click “Buy licenses to share” and punch in how many licenses you want.
